CM's Award for Education announced by : Odisha CM Naveen Pattnaik

On the occasion of closing ceremony of Suravi 2022 was graced by the august presence of Hon'ble @CMO Odisha & other eminent dignitaries. To make educational ecosystem aspirational by incorporating recognition & reward for all stakeholders, 'CM's Award for Education' was announced by Hon'ble CM.

The initiative will benefit 50,000 students, 1500 teachers, headteachers, senior education officers, alumni committees, SMC members, Gram Panchayats to create healthy competition and promote better educational outcomes.


Introduction:

Education in Odisha is witnessing a rapid transformation. The active participation of the community has played a significant role in transforming the overall eco-system of many schools especially the government and government aided high schools of the state. Good work deserves accolades and nothing is more effective than acknowledgement and recognition in the form of award for all the hard work done. This is applicable for students, teachers, administrators and all stakeholders in general.

The Chief Minister's Award for Education is a humble initiative to offer such recognizes the value of scholarly students not only in academics curricular/co-curricular fields. This endeavour also highlights educators create informed and active citizens but also go beyond their duty to inspire the students to greater heights. This initiative also encourages the stakeholders system in transforming dreams into reality. This award meritorious students, teachers, education administrators who act as the biggest support going to give public recognition to and significant stakeholders. The CM's Award would not only focus on one-time awards for students based on their performance b shall also introduce scholarships for meritorious empowering their academic and career students. Scholarships would not only help in goals, but also remove the financial barrier to a certain extent that would ultimately encourage them to aspire high. mmendations. The objective of this award is to make educational ecosystem aspirational by incorporating recognition & reward for all stakeholders, preparing educational leaders by enhancing performance & talent, bringing harmony & synergy through community engagement, and creating healthy competitiveness among schools and administrative units for better educational outcomes.


Objectives:

1. The award shall be in two categories:

Individual awards in the form of cash and scholarships for students and in the form of incentives and professional development support for officials, HMS, Teachers and community.

2. Institutional awards (cash as well as recognition) for administrative units highlighting the best practices and furthering the goal of better quality education with equity.


Individual Awards

Student Awards

Student Academic Award: To motivate individual students, the scheme Individual Awards envisages felicitating 100 students at the state level, 3000 students at district & 31400 students at block level based on their academic performance in 10th board result. .

Student Leadership Award: Involves felicitating students for their leadership role (8311 male, 8807 female) based on student leadership rubric.

Students will be rewarded only at the higher level if he/she is eligible for the mentioned awards. Thus, the students, who will be awarded in more than one category, will receive cash incentive only for one award with the highest amount while they will be given certificates for the other awards received.

Student-merit-cum-scholarship Award: 2000 meritorious students based on 10th board result (NFSA/SFSA) shall be awarded under it


Other Individual Awards:

Recognition for the education administrators as school leaders at the block and district level who have crossed the line of utmost dedication and perseverance in their duty in ensuring the education standards would also highlight their significant contribution to the education scenario of the state.

Teacher Award: Involves awarding 70 teachers at the state level based on Teachers Rubric and 630 teachers at district level.

HM Award: Involves rewarding 10 HMS at the state level based on secondary school rubric and 90 HMS at the district and 314 HMS at the block level.

Involves 314 CRCC awards at the block level.

BEO Award: 10 BEO awards shall be given at the state level.

DEO Award: 03 DEO awards shall be presented at the state level.

Education as a process involves community drive whose sustainability depends on continuous efforts from all stakeholders. It also aims to motivate the leaders who have done exemplary work in their domain for betterment of education system.

Best SMC Award: Involves felicitating 10 SMCs at the state level, 90 SMCs at district level and 314 SMCs at the block level.

Best Alumni Committee Award: Involves awarding 10 alumni committees at the state level, 90 alumni committees at district level and 314 alumni committees at the block level.

Best Gram Panchyat Award: Involves awarding 10 Gram Panchyats at the state level, 90 Gram Panchyats at district level and 314 Gram Panchyats at the block level.

*All districts awards will be based on secondary and elementary school rubrics, on pro rata basis, i.e. in proportion to the no. of schools in a district.


Institutional Awards

Institutional Award 1 (for Secondary Schools)

Under the provisions of Institutional Award 1, there shall be District Awards, Block Awards and School Awards.

District Award: The District Award shall be presented to top 3 performing districts at the state level based on average mark of schools at secondary level.

Block Award: The Block Award shall be conferred to top 10 performing blocks at the state level based on average mark of schools at secondary level.

School Award: The School Award involves awarding of schools in 3 levels i.e. at the state level, district level and block level. At state level, top 10 schools shall be rewarded; at district level, top 90 schools and at block level, top 942 schools shall be rewarded based on average marks of schools at secondary school level.

Under the provisions of Institutional Award 2, there shall be School Awards, HM Awards and Teacher Awards.

Institutional Award 2 (for Elementary Schools)

School Award: At state level, top 50 schools shall be felicitated. At district Level, top 300 schools and at the block level, 942 schools shall be awarded.

HM Award: The HM award of the schools receiving under Institutional award 2 shall be presented to the HMS school award at the state level (50) and district level (300).

DIET Award: There shall be 03 no. of DIET Awards at the state level.

Teacher Award: The scheme also has provisions for 314 no. of Teacher Awards at the block level.

A. All individual and institutional awards will be based on their respective rubrics. 

B. *Department of School and Mass Education will publish detailed guidelines and will conduct capacity building programmes for all stakeholders.
